Turning regulatory and technological change into commercial advantage.
New regulations, changing rules and emerging technologies are usually presented as obligations or disruptions. They can also create valuable opportunities. I specialise in identifying those opportunities and building the tools needed to capture them.
Finding value in change
Much of my work begins when a rule, regulation or technological development creates new room to manoeuvre. Drawing on broad experience across financial services, I examine the change from commercial, quantitative and technical perspectives, then turn the opportunity into a practical programme, algorithm or tool.
Examples include:
- applying permitted valuation techniques to create a balance-sheet management programme that substantially reduces capital requirements;
- turning data-hygiene regulation into diagnostic toolkits and automation tools; and
- using cloud services to access advanced technologies and build real-time, event-driven data and process automation.
The aim is not innovation for its own sake. It is a measurable improvement: a new line of business, more efficient use of capital, better risk insight, a faster process or a capability that was previously impractical.
When to call
If you want to extract value from a new rule or regulation rather than merely comply with it—or if you have a nagging suspicion that there must be a better way—we should talk.
Get in touch and tell me what has changed, or what is not working as well as it should.
